TVC One Gains More Efficiency, Quality and Flexibility with HP Indigo WS6600 Digital Press

PALO ALTO, Calif., Dec. 20, 2012 HP today announced that TVC One installed anHP Indigo WS6600 Digital Pressto increase production efficiency and meet growing demand for shorter, variable print runs.

This is the Lewisville, TX-based print service provider’s first ever digital printing system, bringing true digital production capabilities to the company after relying on flexographic (flexo) presses since the early 1990s. Looking to broaden its production capabilities and match the quality of its flexo output for orders of all sizes,TVC Onechose HP Indigo technology to help it grow in a changing market.

"Customers and competitors push you to turn on a dime in this business, and your reaction time is key," said Gary Dunlap, founder and president, TVC One. "The HP Indigo WS6600 allows us to profitably print short-run and variable jobs on the spot with the highest level of quality customers expect from us."

Digital drives profitability in a traditional organization
For years, TVC One ran itsshort-run and multi-SKU orderson flexo presses. But the time invested to make ready each job combined with waste from overruns made flexo an expensive and inefficient solution for smaller runs and variable data. As demand for these projects steadily increased, the company needed a more efficient and cost-effective way to address its customer needs. TheHP Indigo WS6600 Digital Pressprovided the answer.

"The mix of customer jobs is shifting. Today we have clients order hundreds of SKUs with quantities as low as 1,000 units each. In the past we would have printed an overrun of 4,000 or more units on the flexo presses," said Dunlap. "Now with the HP Indigo press, we can deliver the exact quantities our customers need with quality matching or even exceeding flexo."

TVC One cut both waste and turnaround times by moving these jobs to its new HP Indigo WS6600 Digital Press. With print speeds up 98 feet per minute, the HP Indigo WS6600 is the most productive, high-speed digital solution formedium-run label production. It eliminates the need for make ready and gives TVC One the digital production capacity for continued growth in short- or medium-run jobs, and for variable data printing.

"We used to dedicate18 hours to produce 50 or so short-run jobs on our flexo presses," said Dunlap. "Now we run those on our HP Indigo and have 18 hours of production time freed up on the flexo presses. This not only produces the labels faster, it makes our operation more profitable."

The new installation is projected to triple the company’s revenue growth in the short-run and digital product segment for 2013.

Print quality, media flexibility drive digital expansion
TVC One purchased theHP Indigo pressto take advantage of the benefits inherent to digital production, while also exceeding customer demand for print quality, color matching and media flexibility.

Exclusive to HP Indigo technology, HP ElectroInkoffers the widest digital color gamut and gravure-matching print quality. Seven color stations on the HP Indigo WS6600 match up to 97 percent of PANTONE® colors with four, six or seven color on-press simulations or spot colors mixed off-press. HP Indigo ElectroInk White Plus produces high opacity white in a single pass for maximum productivity, and supports the industry's widest range of media for digital printing.

"With the new color-matching technology, the HP Indigo WS6600 digital press was a no-brainer for us," said Dunlap. "In terms of speed, quality and support, it is second to none. Most importantly, our customers are excited to learn about the new benefits we can provide."
